Review:

This is an incredible product allowing you to observe fish and marine habitats. It even works good for inspecting boat hulls below the water line. The 150' of supplied cable has been more than enough for all the waters I've encountered. The unit is actually rated for depths up to 1000'. It's called one of the best fish finders ever, however, it's not very practical in dark murky waters, so don't plan on throwing your regular fish finder overboard just yet. I found it's great for checking on the type of fish and where they are hiding. Even how they react to certain baits and lures is fascinating.

Both models work with any VCR, camcorder, and/or monitor with a standard video input. The model 550 (B&W) has an advantage over the color model. It works better in dark environments due to the aid of IR emitters, (something like night vision).

The Sea-Tail works good while trolling around with an electric motor. At faster speeds the camera jerks around a bit. I'm not sure if this is because of the camera or the drag on the cable.

The unit is filled with an inert gas, keeping condensation from forming on the inside of the unit in cold water.

I found watching fish reactions to various lures under different conditions and presentations to be very educational and one of the most valuable uses for the Sea Drop. I don't believe it is something I will use on every fishing trip though. For the price, I think this is something every angler who wants the fishing advantage should own.
