Myakka River

Charlotte Harbor

The Myakka River starts in Manatee County and winds through Sarasota County Before reaching Charlotte County. The waters of the Myakka River are normally salty in Charlotte County. For access and fishing locations click on the map above.

Waters from the Peace River and Myakka River converge to form the Charlotte Harbor. Under normal conditions, this water is salty and contains a large number of salt water species of fish including Snook, Redfish, Bass, and more. Peace River

Gulf of Mexico

The Peace River originates in Polk County, flows through Hardee and Desoto Counties, and then merges with the Myakka River in the Charlotte Harbor.

Charlotte County borders the Gulf of Mexico. Some of the best offshore fishing can be found in this region. Manasota Key and Don Pedro Island shelter the main land from the gulf. Lemon Bay, Placida Harbor, and Gasparilla Sound, route of the Inter Coastal Waterway, also make for excellent fishing.
