The Peace River originates in Polk County, flows through Hardee and Desoto Counties, and then merges with the Myakka River in the Charlotte Harbor. |
Charlotte County borders the Gulf of Mexico. Some of the best offshore fishing can be found in this region. Manasota Key and Don Pedro Island shelter the main land from the gulf. Lemon Bay, Placida Harbor, and Gasparilla Sound, route of the Inter Coastal Waterway, also make for excellent fishing. |
